Lauren Mizock Ph.D.


Lauren Mizock, Ph.D. is on the faculty at Fielding Graduate University and in private practice as a psychotherapist in San Francisco. She is a researcher with expertise multicultural competence in research and clinical work, clinical practice with transgender and gender diverse individuals, psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery, size acceptance, and culturally relevant pedagogy.

Mizock is on the Executive Committee of the Society for the Psychology of Women (Division 35) of the American Psychological Association (APA). Lauren is also Program Developer for the Boston University Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation and conducts innovative research about issues of culture and mental health.

Mizock is author of the Acceptance of Mental Illness: Promoting Recovery Among Culturally Diverse Groups (Oxford University Press, 2016), and Researcher Race: Social Constructions in the Research Process (Information Age Publishing, 2012). She has published over 50 research articles, book chapters, and invited contributions. She serves on the editorial board of several journals.
